Review of PG-S001 Tree House Clone of LEGO IDEAS 21318

This is a review on PG-S001 Tree House set which is a modified version of LEGO IDEAS 21318. Original had 3,036 pieces but PG-S001 reported 2,156 parts, a reduction of 29% in parts counts. The maker of Tree House set was Pangu, a new player in China clone bricks market who outsourced the bricks to Gobricks.

Because of over 880 reduction in parts, it’s more appropriate to say this is a shrink down version of LEGO IDEAS 21318 set. LEGO set had 180 plant elements, while PG-S001 had 108 of them. From the outset, it looked identical to the original design. For this reviews, many thanks to “MAX” for photos contribution.

The box arrived in bad shape thanks to rough handling by courier. There was no “brand” on the box and the typical side handle was missing too.

Instruction manual and numbering bags. Bags 1-7 had numbers printed on the bags while bags 8-17 had numbering stickers pasted on. The packaging could be outsourced to two different factories.

Sticker sheet, and these design actually existed in printed tiles for LEGO and among clone bricks makers. Pangu might want to keep the cost down by opting for stickers.

Instruction manual, the steps will grey out for completed ones.

Let’s take a look at the parts. Lately many clone bricks brand started switching to a supplier called “Gobricks”, who made LEGO compatible bricks with superior quality. Sembo, Decool, Mould King and King (new Lepin) had used Gobricks’ bricks in newer sets.

Very good transparent parts with minimal scratches. Thumbs up for this!

There was only one minifigure and it adopted articulated joints for more posing possibility. The waist could made limited turn.

Serial numbers printed at the bottom of the feet, which you could cross reference at Gobricks website.

Building in progress, the base reminded us of Apocalypseburg.

The foundation for the three cabins were completed. However the steps on the manual could be confusing so paid attention here!

Building the first cabin. At first we thought there were parts missing, end up the parts were in other bags.

Adding the third cabin.

We swapped the plank with the printed tile from the Old Fishing Store. It did blend in better compared to the sticker one.

Remaining brown fall leaves elements.

We decided to add extra leaves elements to the Tree House. Basically you could add as many leaves elements to cover the bare tree tops. Extra leaves weren’t included in this set.

Question here, shall you get Pangu version of Tree House (PG-S001) which were modified and had less parts? One may not notice the differences unless you had LEGO copy to compare side by side. You could always apply your creativity and MOC the Tree House further. That’s joy of brick building instead of following the instruction wholesale. Below is upcoming Tree House from XS brand, which had the release date pushed back due to recall of the tree elements. So far it’s on presale on Aliexpress. It claimed to be full replication of LEGO 21318 set. You might want to wait for XS brand release instead.
